Roger Nielsen and Vicki Gee-Treft are opening up Roger's Wisconsin cabin for some winter fun the weekend of January 21-22.

Cross Country skiing, snowmobils, walks in the woods, cigars by the fire, and conversation with friends from Rotary Club 10.

The cabin is located on two hundred acres in the heart of northern Wisconsin's vacationland, surrounded by thousands of acres of county forest.  The "bunkhouse" upstairs of the three car garage/shop) can sleep 14 and with sofas, plus an air mattress they can do 5 more in the main cabin.  They have some bedding but sleeping bags are recommended.

There are several miles of logging trails on the land for snow shoeing and/or cross country skiing.  If you prefer groomed trails there's one just a couple of miles up the road.  They are adjacent to hundreds of miles of maintained snowmobile trails.

If you're into ice fishing, there are two good lakes a mile up the road in either direction.  We are in a wilderness setting teaming with deer and other wildlife.  Many evenings you can hear the wolves howl.  Roger hasn't looked at the calendar yet to see if we'll have a full moon, but he says skiing in the moonlight is really cool.   Of course, if you're not the outdoor type, there's nothing saying you can't just sit by the wood stove and read or chat.  It's really all about fellowship with other Rotarians.

Depending on the weather we can have a bon fire outside, drink a little wine, beer or hot toddies and smoke cigars (if you're into that).

The plan calls for a pot luck lunch and dinner on Saturday.  Roger and Vicki will furnish venison burgers and/or brats with all the trimmings.   If everyone brings a dish to share, we should have more than enough food.  Hot dishes and chili are great after a day in the cold.  Of course desserts like brownies and chocolate chip cookies are always welcome. Sunday brunch can be leftovers or we can all go to the Caddy Shack, a restaurant about four miles up the road. They do a pretty decent omelet.
