Plan to attend the District Conference
Embracing Humanity: Ordinary People doing Extraordinary Things. The Keynote speaker at the Friday evening dinner will be Madeline Uraneck, Global Citizen and Peace Advocate who is doing extraordinary things.
While in the Peace Corps in Lesotho in Africa, Madeline created a website containing her “public letters.”
In several of these public letters she explains her collection of “best days.” “I am collecting “best days” in Lesotho. I’m not getting a salary here, but perhaps collecting experiences is another form of spiritual materialism, if that’s not a contradiction.
I described my first “best day” in Public Letter #2 (Nov. 16, 2006), when I hiked for 8 hours in a spectacular valley in the Qaches Nek district. This week I had my second “best day.” This second best day includes time spent at the Majara Primary School and a breathtaking mountain walk to and from that school. You can read about best days and more at the website for her public letters.
Join us to honor a global citizen who epitomizes “service above self” and reaching within to embrace humanity.
