Chris Parton, President & CEO of West Academic, will be presenting on the history of West Academic, its relationship to West Publishing and Thomson Reuters, and the company’s recent move to downtown Saint Paul.

West Academic, a higher education publishing business, is focused on the law school market. West Academic was separated from long time parent Thomson Reuters and purchased by Eureka Growth Capital in February 2013.

Prior to becoming President & CEO, Parton was Vice President and General Manager of the academic division of Thomson Reuters Legal, which included the Law School Publishing business (now West Academic) as well as the law school library sales division and law student Westlaw preference program. He started with the original West Publishing in 1993 prior to the acquisition by Thomson, and over the years has operated in a number of leadership roles across Sales, Account Management, Marketing, Editorial, and New Product Development. Parton holds his juris doctor from the University of Texas School of Law and his Bachelor of Business Administration from Stephen F. Austin State University.
