Reviewed in the Sunday, October 27,2013 Pioneer Press by Mary Ann Grossman: "Antics on Woodhouse Avenue" by Bob Garland (Gabbrolandbooks, $14.95):

"It's too bad the cover of this St. Paul author's sequel to "Woodhouse Avenue Follies" doesn't offer eye-catching artwork that would compel someone to pick up the novel. The charming, quirky series will appeal to those who appreciate understated adventure with a likable protagonist.  Humboldt Prior and his extended family live in an enclave off Summit Avenue, built by his ancestor who owned a leather business that hasn't operated for years.

The family lives off a large trust fund, and the men pretend to go to work. Beleaguered Humboldt is about the only conscientious one, and in this story, he has to do something about his cousins' insane -- and smelly -- scheme to buy old cow hides and reopen the leather works.  There's a charlatan who pretends to be a preacher and a hateful woman who's boss of TV anchor Penelope Rote. Penelope is sort of admired by Humboldt, but she scares him, too, because she keeps asking him to do stuff that takes him out of his bachelor comfort zone." http://www.twincities.com/life/ci_24380825/new-publisher-40-press-presents-six-its-minnesota
