2012 Rotary 5960 District Conference
April 13th and 14th
University of Wisconsin, River Falls, Wisconsin

Recently a video about Uganda has gone “viral” on the internet.  It is called “Kony 2012.”  If you are familiar with the video, you know that it is about the war in Northern Uganda fought by the Kony’s Lord’s Resistance Army (LRA).  Over the course of recent years, the LRA has abducted children in northern Uganda and forced the girls to be slaves, and the boys to be soldiers in the army.  An advocacy group called “Invisible Children” produced the video.  Okello Sam is a drummer and dancer from Uganda and will be at the District Conference in April.  Okello Sam also started an NGO called Hope North.  Hope North is a 40-acre refuge-orphanage-safe house for children escaping from the LRA or from abduction by that army.

Attend the District Conference and learn more about the issue of child abduction in Northern Uganda, and about Hope North.  Visit the website of Hope North to learn about their work to shelter children.  Learn more about Invisible Children by visiting their website, and to watch the video, “Kony 2012”.
