Four prominent Twin Cities personalities attempted to answer significant questions focusing on "Trust: Does It Matter?"  In conjunction with a morning workshop of 100 invited professionals and community leaders gathering May 19 in the Securian Room of St. Paul Saints CHS Field. The key presenters deepened the importance and value of trust

Governor Al Quie, 3M Global Communications Manager Jacqueline Berry, U. of M. Head Wresting Coach J. Robinson, and Marvin Windows Senior Vice President Steve Tourek were brutally forthright in addressing: "What is Trust? How do you establish Trust? What happens when you lose it? Can it be repaired and how?"

Structured table conversations led to multiple viewpoints how trust is lost and how restored.  Attendees were asked for a single synonym for "trust." A resulting word cloud depicted the top three: Integrity, Faith, Confidence.

Values Day table discussions encompassed many observations, including...

"Business depends on trust.  Co-workers and clients count on trust.  It's about follow-through and accountability and being a person of your word."

"It's human nature to make mistakes that breach trust, but we want and need to trust.  We cause the problem and we also can provide the remedy."

"We have no control over the actions of others, but we can change our own individual actions."

Governor Quie provided the most succinct 3-point formula for establishing and sustaining trust.  It takes "radical integrity, aggressive collaboration, and no excuses."
