President John Guthmann called the meeting to order, followed by the musical stylings of Joe Kovarik and Doug Hartford. Bob Cardinal provided the invocation and Bill Collins introduced two guests of Rotarians. President John recognized Jon Cieskak and Bill Collins as today’s greeters, reminded everyone that Jodi is part-time, and asked us to “think membership.” Also, be sure to check page 59 of the most recent Rotarian Magazine, featuring our Club hosting RI President Gary C.K. Huang!

Chuck Whitaker mentioned our speaker for next week is Mark Andrew who will talk about the solar energy field and his company as being one of the leading solar companies in MN.  Steve Gerber spoke about RYLA including a planning meeting this coming Thursday at 6:30 at Mai Village.  There will be an ethical discussion at RYLA on April 26 at 4 PM and there is still a need for drivers and counselors.   Doug Bruce reminded us of the upcoming Feed My Starving Children packing event  at Summit Brewery on April 24-26 with a goal of 150,000 meals to pack. The registration link is now posted on our website.

President John welcomed our newest Club member, Sherry Howe! We look forward to her membership in the club after 27 years as Executive Director.

We recognized 14 Rotarians with March birthdays, then Jon Cieslak collected Happy Dollars. Jim Miller introduced this week’s speaker, Clyde Doepner.

Clyde is the official  curator of the Minnesota Twins.  There are 33 cases he manages at Target Field and he updates them annually.  He is the only full time curator in major league baseball and reports to Dave St. Peter. He has written a book with others that addresses 220 pieces of Senators and Twins memorabilia.

He gives hundreds of talks yearly on Twins memorabilia and he collects ad displays items at Target Field.

He explained the authentication of game used items and used a handout for his explanation.  He is willing to give tours of the press box if anyone with a group calls him in advance of the game for free. After Clyde was presented with a certificate and we recited the Four Way Test,  he stayed after the meeting to answer questions and sign books.

Respectfully submitted,

Geoff Kaufmann
