Custom House
The presentation will trace the history of the Custom House site and building from the 1840s to the present day, including images of the building currently under redevelopment as 202 upscale apartments, a 149 room Hyatt Place Hotel, and other uses. After the presentation, there will Q&A and an opportunity to purchase copies of the book at a cost of $45 each.
James A. Stolpestad is a Minnesota lawyer, real estate entrepreneur, and community leader. He has been active in St. Paul historic preservation since 1971 and was instrumental in creating the city’s first historic districts. Exeter Group, which he founded in 1991, has been transforming urban neighborhoods in the Twin Cities for the past twenty-five years with award-winning retail, residential, and mixed use projects, many of them historic renovations. Custom House is the firm’s most ambitious development to date.
