President Carla Hauge called the meeting to order, followed by a rousing rendition of Ann Reed’s "The Fair" led by Jerry Faletti.   Rev. Jennie Lightfoot delivered a moving invocation and welcome to our guests. Kathleen Riley facilitated the introduction of visiting Rotarians and guests, including the honored delegation of Rotarians from our sister Club in Nagasaki, Japan. Heidi Fisher and Christian Weinhagen served as greeters. 

 

Joe Beckman will present "The Power of Positive Psychology.  Real world data, tips and tricks for lowering stress, increasing productivity and acting yourself into a new way of thinking" at this Thursday's fellowship meeting. Jim Kosmo stated that the roast for Past President John will be moved into September- more to come.

Scott Van reported that the Rose Sale will be on Sept 24th at $18.00 /dozen. Jay Fender spoke about next week’s program regarding the construction of the new Stillwater bridge. Happy dollars had many wonderful announcements.

Al Drazil introduced Mayor Coleman for a later talk. Linda Mulhurn introduced Nanako Nagaishi who then introduced Nagasaki Rotary Club President Tokio Honda. President Honda spoke about the great partnership between St. Paul and Nagasaki.  This is the 60 year celebration of the sister city relationship and the 40-year anniversary of the Rotary sister club partnership.

Mayor Coleman welcomed the representatives from Nagasaki and spoke about the events of last week and the week to come with the delegation from Japan.  The partnership with Nagasaki runs deep and is both a relationship of head and heart.

Nanako gave a presentation of her year in review and referenced “Minni Snow ta” in her comments.  She had a wonderful year, went to Highland Park High School, Camp RYLA and worked on a Peace Activity.  She also lettered in two activities.  She gave a tearful goodbye and promised to return.

The remainder of the meeting was an exchange of gifts and club banners.

Nanako rang the bell to adjourn.
