Peter Ungaro, President and CEO of Cray Inc. will speak on Cray: Past, Present and Future. Since Cray’s beginnings in 1972 it has had a strong tie to the Twin Cities as well as its engineering and manufacturing site in Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin.  As a company, Cray has had its glory days in the 70’s and 80’s and then fell on tougher times in the 90’s and was eventually sold to Silicon Graphics. 

 

 
In 2000 a small company from Seattle, Washington acquired the Cray division of SGI and named the combined company Cray Inc. Over the last 15 years, Cray has regained its leadership in the world of supercomputing and has expanded their business into the new and exciting world of big data storage and analytics. Ungaro will give a view of where the company has been and where it is going in the future.
