We remember Ronald A. Phillippo, an emeritus member of Rotary Club #10. Ron joined the Rotary of Saint Paul in 1978, and was an active member, board member and officer until 2010, when he assumed emeritus status. On November 5, 2017 Ron succumbed to cancer. He was 82 years old, and was well known throughout the east metro and western Wisconsin community for various volunteer and professional roles in the not-for-profit community. Ron worked for the Boy Scouts of America for 42 years, retiring as Scout Executive and CEO of the Indianhead Council in Saint Paul where he had served for 22 years. The former Cannon River Scout Reservation in Cannon Falls was renamed in his honor as he retired, and a 100 foot tall fire tower was erected at Tomahawk Scout Reservation as an additional tribute. During Ron’s career in Milwaukee, Arlington Heights, Miami and at the national office in New Jersey, he designed and implemented innovative programs to manage public relations, the co-ed membership format for Explorer Scouts, the Tiger Cub program for first graders, and more. He fostered a culture of innovation and strong brand identity throughout his lifetime. He was a charismatic leader who engaged with all, and who found special ways to express caring and recognition. He was an advocate for all young people, and especially those who need us the most. Ron is survived by his wife of 59 years, Betty, and his daughters Kris and Kate. We request that this memorial resolution be read into the minutes of the Rotary Club of Saint Paul and that a copy be sent to his family members. Memorial Committee - John Andrews, Past President
